Beautiful Creatures Review

Lena Duchannes is unlike anyone the small Southern town of Gatlin has ever seen, and she's struggling to conceal her power, and a curse that has haunted her family for generations. But even within the overgrown gardens, murky swamps and crumbling graveyards of the forgotten South, a secret cannot stay hidden forever.

Ethan Wate, who has been counting the months until he can escape from Gatlin, is haunted by dreams of a beautiful girl he has never met. When Lena moves into the town's oldest and most infamous plantation, Ethan is inexplicably drawn to her and determined to uncover the connection between them.

In a town with no surprises, one secret could change everything.

Language and content:  none, none

I loved reading a book that was from the guy's point of view.  There's not many authors out there that tackle this and it was a good change.  I loved Ethan as a character, he wasn't the normal whiny, clingy teenager that you read about in most of the YA novels now days and that was nice.  And his love interests, Lena, was a strong character as well.  She has her issues, but she's also not the "cliched" teenager.

This story is a long one, over 500 pages, but it never drug for me.  It's very fast paced, never predictable and there's enough action and romance to keep anyone entertained.  I enjoyed it enough that I'm going to continue on w/the next book soon, I'm curious to see what "life" has in store for these two.
