Lover Reborn Review

Ever since the death of his shellan, Tohrment has been a heartbroken shadow of the vampire leader he once was. Brought back to the Brotherhood by a self-serving fallen angel, he fights again with ruthless vengeance, unprepared for a new tragedy. Seeing his beloved in dreams—trapped in a cold, isolated netherworld—Tohr turns to the angel Lassiter to save his former mate. The only way to rescue her is for Tohr to love another. As war with the lessers rages, and a new clan of vampires vie for the Blind King’s throne, Tohr struggles between an unforgettable past and a hot, passion-filled future. But can his heart let go and set all of them free?

My take:
5 Stars

Would I recommend to others: Yes
Appropriate for 14 and under: No
Language and Sexual Content:  Strong language, high content

I LOVED this book! I am so glad I didn't pay attention to most of the reviews that stated this book wasn't good. Thor is one of my favorite characters and my heart had broken when Wellsie died. I was so happy to see things work out for him and the storyline twist more for more characters and books. JR Ward is great at writing a story that will pull you in and not let go until you read the very last sentence. I will continue to read and love this series.

For those not familiar w/this series and following me. Please note that these book are NOT appropriate for YA and are full of strong language and sexual content!

Clockwork Princess Review

Danger and betrayal, secrets and enchantment in the breathtaking conclusion to the Infernal Devices trilogy.

Tessa Gray should be happy - aren't all brides happy?
Yet as she prepares for her wedding, a net of shadows begins to tighten around the Shadowhunters of the London Institute.
A new demon appears, one linked by blood and secrecy to Mortmain, the man who plans to use his army of pitiless automatons, the Infernal Devices, to destroy the Shadowhunters. Mortmain needs only one last item to complete his plan. He needs Tessa. And Jem and Will, the boys who lay equal claim to Tessa's heart, will do anything to save her.

My take:
5 beautiful, teary stars

Would I recommend to others:  Yes!!!
Appropriate for 14 and under:  yes
Language and sexual content:  none/very mild

Before I get into any spoilers (I'll note when I do so I don't ruin it for others) I just want to say that I loved this book!  I cried so much through the last 20% of this book, happy tears and sad ones.  This was absolutely a perfect ending to one of my favorite trilogies.  There's unexpected, but pleasant surprises in this one.  I am amazed at Tessa's abilities, to the point of being almost speechless.  Just perfection!  If you have this book on your TBR list and just haven't gotten to it yet?  Bump it up!!  If you haven't read any of this trilogy yet, you're missing out.  Full of action, romance and wit...everything I require in my reading.

**SPOILERS: Don't read beyond this point if you haven't read the book**

I just can't get over what happens with Jem.  I didn't see the twist of Brother Zachariah coming, but I SO enjoyed it.  It was beautiful to see that he kept his emotion and his humanity through the whole thing, and all because of his love for Tessa.  The reunion of these two made my heart sigh, and here's why.  The entire story I was torn between both of the boys, Will and Jem.  They were so similar that I couldn't pick a favorite.  However, I was so heartbroken to watch Will push Tessa away and watch Jem and her together.  I really was thrilled beyond thrilled that these two got their chance to be together WITHOUT hurting Jem or their own hearts.  What a beautiful life they were able to achieve.

The reunion I was speaking of before, between Jem and Tessa, was so sweet and tender.  By this time my heart was ready for them both to have a happy ending.  Will and Tessa had lived a beautiful life, full of love and so many unexpected things.  So glad that Jem and Tessa were able to find the solace in each other, that Will and Tessa did upon Jem's "death".

I also loved the unexpected outcome of the last fight with Mortmain.  How amazing was that?  I NEVER saw that twist coming, but I love Cassie for having the imagination to come up with it.  And the relationships with Cecy and Gabriel...she's truly as enjoyable for me as Will was.  Oh, and Gideon and Sophie...that made me shout with joy!  Magnus was a great surprise, I love how he's able to use his wisdom and help other make their choices.  He's truly a great man and one of my most favorite characters.

Another surprise was the scene w/Jessamine and Will at the party.  It just seemed right that these two were able to connect, to forgive and her calling him out?  That was awesome! (Don't forget Magnus and his very helpful conversation just after this either.)

All in all, this book was just perfect!  I wouldn't have changed a moment of it and I can't wait to go back and read all three of them again.

You Are Mine Review

Serena knows a few simple things. She will always be owned by a warlock. She will never have freedom. She will always do what her warlock wishes, regardless of how inane, frivolous, or cruel it is. And if she doesn’t follow the rules, she will be tarnished. Spelled to be bald, inked, and barren for the rest of her life—worth less than the shadow she casts.

Then her ownership is won by a barbarian from another country. With the uncertainty that comes from belonging to a new warlock, Serena questions if being tarnished is really worse than being owned by a barbarian, and tempts fate by breaking the rules. When he looks the other way instead of punishing her, she discovers a new world. The more she ventures into the forbidden, the more she learns of love and a freedom just out of reach. Serena longs for both. But in a society where women are only ever property, hoping for more could be deadly.

My Take:

5 (or 10 if the rating went that high) stars!!

Would I recommend to others:  Absolutely!
Appropriate for 14 and under:  Yes
Language and sexual content:  None/none

Since this is my blog, I can rave and comment until my heart is content, so this is what I'm going to do.  Hopefully I don't give too much of the book away, but you'll walk away wanting to read this book, if you haven't already by reading the synopsis.

Let me start off by saying, Janeal, you are brilliant!  I'm so glad that your dream of writing your book finally happened for you.  But I'm even more glad, that after our morning walks a few years ago, your dream came to "paper" so I could enjoy it too!  Congrats, my friend.  Your book is amazing!  Job well done!

I was so intrigued after reading what the book was about, that I stopped reading my "next book" and started reading this one.  For those of you who know me, you'll know of my struggles in life.  For those of you who don't, well...let me just say that I know what it's like to be beaten, both physically and emotionally.  And I know how Serena feels to have her freedom taken away, but to want to fight it daily.  I also know what it's like to find solace and strength in another person, but it taking years to let go of the fear of trusting someone enough and giving them the power to hurt you.  And to find yourself stronger because of this person and the faith they have in you, and falling endlessly head over heels in love with the man for it.  For this part, I thank my husband, who is my strength and my true love.

Serena comes across to me as a very beautiful, willful girl.  She has a beautiful, strong spirit that her father is determined to break, then mold to his advantage.  She reaches the age of "adulthood" and it's time for her to be married off.  To women of this time, this means more "ownership" of them and more, if not worse, punishments doled out by their new "master", their intended husband.

It was a true inspiration to me to watch Serena grow, as she's handed over to the man, the barbarian, who "wins" her hand.  To watch her test her boundaries and her feelings.  The last 20% of this book had me on the edge of my seat, my heart in anguish for many of the characters.  I couldn't even put it down to eat!  I absolutely loved the ending, it brought me to tears.  And I'm going to anxiously await Janeal to write her next book.  Hopefully I don't bug her too much, or start stalking her...lol.  Anyway, go grab your copy of this book, you'll love it!  And make sure you stop by Janeal's author page on Facebook.  She's such a sweet, honest person and you'll love knowing her.
